Multi - Physics Simulations / Mechatronics

We use specialized software packages for simulations with differing computational behaviors like

• Structural analysis (FEM)
• Electronic circuit simulation
• Flow simulation (CFD)

For the coupling of structure and fluid in an analysis, we use the only commercially available program that offers a fully integrated simulation with a single interface - ADINA.

For the coupling of other physical disciplines, we adapt the corresponding specialized software packages, and control them with our own custom made program such that feedback and data transfer occurs between the two solvers (loose coupling).
For example, we implemented an electrical-thermal-mechanical coupling that allowed us to consider temperature-dependent power loss in power modules while accounting for changes in the mechanical state (deformation, stress, strain). This significantly expanded the possibilities for evaluating the thermal path in the critical areas.
